Suatu saat anak-anak akan bertanya kepada orang tuanya ketika mereka melihat anak kecil atau orang dewasa yang terlihat dan berperilaku “Berbeda”. Bagaimana orang tua harus berbicara mengenai perbedaan sambil menekan-kan pada hal-hal bahwa semua orang memiliki kesamaan. hal tersebut sangat sulit dan bahkan akan sulit dijelaskan
Cerita dimulai ketika Kate yang baru berusia 8 tahun bersama dengan Ibu nya pergi ke Taman. Siang itu taman di penuhi oleh banyak anak-anak yang bermain dan para ibu yang menemani. Kate memperhatikan seorang anak laki-laki yang sedang bermain bola basket, anak laki-laki itu terlihat dan berperilaku berbeda bagi Kate. Dialah Timmy, seorang anak laki-laki yang memiliki kebutuhan khusus. Pada mulanya Kate sangat takut untuk bertemu dengan Timmy, sampai Ibu Kate memperkenalkan Timmy dan Ibu-nya kepada Kate.
Kate mulai mengenal Timmy, mereka mengobrol, tertawa bersama, dan bermain bersama. Semakin lama Kate mengenal Timmy, semakin banyak yang Kate pelajari dari teman barunya ini, bahwa Timmy mempunyai banyak kesamaan dengan dirinya dan kenyataannya Kate menyadari tidak ada yang salah dengan Timmy.
Ibu Kate memberikan contoh yang tepat dalam berperilaku, berbicara dengan putrinya dengan tenang dan langsung, memberikan contoh-contoh dari kehidupan sendiri untuk membantu Kate mengerti tentang Timmy.
“Do you want to play basketball with me an my friends right now ?”
Timmy smiled and said, “I’d like to…But do you think they will lught at me ?”
“No way.” Said Kate, hoping she was right.
“What if no one pick me to be on their team ?”Said Timmy nervously.
“Don’t Worry.”Said Kate “YOU’LL BE ON MY TEAM.”

Dengan Keterlibatan keluarganya akan hak-hak orang berkebutuhan khusus, Maria Shriver memperdalam pemahaman kita, tentang orang dengan kebutuhan khusus saat memperkenalkan kita dengan anak hebat bernama Timmy. Seorang anak yang menginginkan apa yang kita inginkan, seorang anak yang ingin diakui keberadaannya dan ingin dicintai.
Di dalam buku ini Maria Shriver menggunakan kemampuannya dalam mendongeng, Shriver menciptakan sensintivitas yang luar biasa dan kemurahan jiwa dengan memberikan jawaban yang mudah dimengerti oleh anak-anak. Dengan Illustrasi yang lembut indah, tebal, frase diperbesar pada halaman berlawanan dari teks sebagai keterangan yang dibuat oleh Sandra Speidel. walaupun Buku ”What’s Wrong With Timmy?” ini merupakan buku dengan berbahasa Inggris namun Shriver dan Speidels menjadikan buku ini bacaan yang ringan namun tetap mendidik. Someday children will ask to parents when they see other children or adult look and act “differently”. How a parent must talk about differences while emphasizing the things all people have in common. Its uneasy and even very difficult to explain.
The story begin when Kate 8 years old with her mother, go to the park. This afternoon park so full with children are playing and mommy accompany them. Kate noticed a boy who was playing basketball, a boy are look and behaves differently from other children for Kate. He is Timmy, a kid with special needs. At first time Kate was so afraid to met timmy, until Kate's Mother introduce Timmy and His Mother, to her daughter Kate.
Kate got to know Timmy, they chatted, laughed and play together. The longer she knew Timmy, the more she learned from this new friend, that Timmy has a lot in common with her and the fact she realized there was nothing wrong with Timmy at all.
Kate's mother models appropriate behavior, speaking to her daughter calmly and directly, and providing examples from her own life to help Kate understand about Timmy.

Maria Shriver is the daughter of Eunice Kennedy Shriver and Sargent Shriver, the founder of Special Olympics. With her family's involvement will the rights of persons with special needs, Maria Shriver deepen our understanding about people with special needs while introducing us to a great son named Timmy. A child who wants what we want, a child who wants to be recognized and want to be loved
In this book Maria Shriver uses storytelling ability to create extraordinary sensintivitas and generosity of spirit by giving an answer that is easily understood by children. With Illustrations of beautiful soft, thick, enlarged phrase on the opposite page of text as a statement made by Sandra Speidel. although the book is use English, but Shriver and Speidel’s makes this book an easy reading but still educational.
